allocate：

1、vt. 分配；拨出；使坐落于

2、vi. 分配；指定

assign：

1、vt. 分配；指派；[计][数] 赋值

2、vi. 将财产过户（尤指过户给债权人）

二、用法不同

1、allocate：主要指金钱、财产、权力或领土等的分配，着重分配的比例和专门用途。

例句：Yet they lack the power to raise funds or to allocate spending.

译文：然而他们却没有权利筹集资金或是分配消费。

2、assign：是指按照某种原则进行的硬性分配，也不一定是很公平的分配。

例句：The selling broker is then required to assign a portion of the commission to the buyer broker.
